What is a
Trail Buggy???
www.Idahotrailbuggy.com is simply here to promote
this great new sport...come along for the ride

Only out for a few years now, Trail Buggys
(purposely spelling Buggys with an - s instead
of ies)or Mini-buggys are like a mini -dune buggy but
have a suspension that swings in behind the drivers seat with
an opposing shock much like a motorcycle for a really smooth ride.
Single or Two seater options are available.
The Hammerhead 250 Hi-Lo is perfect for carrying you and your
spouse comfortably
Most having 150 or 250cc Honda style engines and a
Forward or Reverse Centrifugal clutch.

The nice thing about the 150's and 250's is they will fit easily
even in a Short box pickup
It's nice to ride up in the comfort of your pickup - unload the
buggy when you see some good logging roads and run around for
a few hours - then back into the comfort of your pickup for the
drive home...very wife friendly....
____________________________
There are larger 650 -1100+ models but the larger models are
built more as a Dune Buggy which has a tendency to make them less
able to climb over ledges due to the stiff frame
But the big motors can fly
The majority are built in China with prices ranging
from $2,900 to $4,900 ($3,850 will get you a great machine)
to....the Ridge Runner with a 800 Polaris actually built here
in Nampa.. for $20,000
There are a lot of different units as well as small children's
models but this site is focused on the trail riding models
Registered as UTV's they can be ridden on public dirt roads (not
ATV trails) so long as you have a valid drivers Lic, insurance,
registration and the vehicle has horn, head lights and tail lights.
Insurance on mine ran $36 a year, registration was under $20
I have to confess - at 40+ years old, I became immediately addicted
to these little roust abouts. They can cruise down dirt roads
at 50mph or climb up into the woods or tear around in a motorcycle
park. Absolute blast to drive and big enough to safely take your
kids or wife.
Safety is one of their biggest plus's
over 180 children were killed on ATV's last year - no deaths reported
in Trail buggys
Trail buggys have roll bars - 4 pt seat belts -
and have a much lower center of gravity.
We have a group ride into some
fun area every other month, watch the Bulletin Board
If you want to take a ride in one, email me, I'm in the Emmett
area.
We usually can find someone to help you out.
