Sprinkler Repair Water
is the key to everything alive. Besides the basic needs of irrigation repair,
from pipes not properly blown out in the fall, cracked or broken sprinkler
heads, proper water maintenance is often overlooked.
The amount of water applied at the proper time is crucial to a lush,
vibrant yard. Trees and shrubs have far different water needs in different
seasons. We actually regulate and maintain your watering for proper irrigation
of all living plants in your yard. |

Fertilizing If
you want a lush vibrant yard, it needs good nutrition. Most of the soil,
especially in new yards in the NW Boise area, is sorely lacking the key
elements: nitrogen, humus, iron, and potash. We use a time release, pellet
form fertilizer for spring, summer and fall that slowly dissolves giving
the plants a continuous feeding, plus organic feeding alternation between
the mineral applications. These are best done after an aeration. We have
taken lawns that seemed hopeless and within a season made them the most
lush green yards on the block. |

| Aeration A far greater problem in our area than in other parts of the country, we have a hard clay under most of the yards we work in. If you work with plant life, you know that water, sunlight, and air are essential to growth. Unless you have nursery experience you may not know that the earth itself must have air for the soil to go through its natural organic process. Earthworms are nature's way of breaking up the soil and allowing air into the roots for organic matter to decompose and break down the soil's nutrients. We speed this process up greatly by punching tube holes down into the roots allowing water and air to penetrate the hard clay. Aeration is critical to trees, we see more trees die from improper watering
on trees planted on hard pan, and the tree actually drowns. Holes can
be drilled around a tree base to 2 foot depth, however, a process we are
using now has proven very effective. Cutting long narrow trenches from
the root ball out past the tree canopy-angled deeper farther from the
tree, filled with sand and organic matter, we have university tests that
prove that the root structure is greatly enhanced within months of using
this method. |

| Tree Pruning Trees are one of our favorite things to care for. Pruning is often important to a tree's overall health. Removal of dead or broken limbs is one of the essential means of discouraging the "opportunist" disease and insects we talked about in spray control. We, personally, like to take the time to show the owner why we prune and why it's so important to use a licensed nurseryman versus Chain-saw Charlie. Many customers comment on how our pruning makes the entire yard "feel" better. A tree that is left to grow wild gives the entire yard a messy look and blocks out much needed light for the rest of the yard. Tree growth needs to be directed, removing weak limbs that can be dangerous in the future, and encouraging growth that will be strong and beautiful as the tree matures. Our specialty is young trees under 20 feet. We use a licensed arborist, whom we've known and worked with exclusively for over 11 years, for larger trees. To us, a tree is a major asset, not only for the beauty of the yard,
but for the value of the overall estate. |

| Hedge Trimming I am shocked by the poor butcher jobs many of the high end maintenance companies do in the area. The next time you are near the Boise Town Square Mall, look at the job done on the roller-skating rink on Cole Road... There should be a law against those hedges' hedging! Although junipers are resilient and tough, if you take them back beyond this season's growth buds to dry sticks, dry sticks is all you're going to have. Again, this is where a licensed nurseryman is worth the value over a mad hacker. Hedges must be tapered out at the bottom for light or the bottom of that plant will begin to die and leave dead limbs. The plant can be manipulated of course, and we like to take the time to know exactly what you want. We really enjoy hedge trimming and have invested a great deal in custom equipment for any variety of job. We'll even start a topiary project for you. To me there is nothing messier than an out of control juniper,
nothing more pristine than an elegant manicured hedge. |

| Mow and Edge Well, there are a thousand guys out there that will cut your grass. Our interest really is in your overall yard's appearance. Several of the new yards we took on last year cost us 3 to 4 hours each, in just metal edging the driveways. One customer asked me, "why are you spending so much time just to find cement?" Well, I asked him to let us finish and if they didn't like the overall effect on the yards appearance, they didn't have to pay for it. We got paid -- and tipped. Your yard is really a living mural of you, it can effect your entire
mood when you drive in after a long day of work. We use top quality mowers
and trimmers for a clean manicured look. From residential to large estates,
a diamond cut lawn with clean straight edges makes or breaks the entire
